Cold forging (or cold extrusion ) is a process of forming out of metal solid or hollow parts that are generally axially symmetrical by the plastic deformation of a raw material known as a slug. Although this technique needs stronger tools and more powerful machines than forging by other methods, the precision and the surface condition obtained are much better.

 

• Volume of the material used close to that of the finished part
• Improvement of the mechanical properties through cold working, which eliminates the need for heat treatment and optimizes the geometry and dimensions of the part
